Sustainable Construction

A Sustainable Approach

Throughout our UK-wide aggregates network, we plan carefully to ensure a balance between the need for raw materials and protecting the environment, involving local communities in land restoration opportunities and maximising the use of recycled materials.

In all our aggregates production, sustainability is a top priority. That’s why, every year, we invest over £1.2m in restoration creating wildlife havens like the Attenborough Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire, built on over 360 acres of flooded gravel pits.

Through its history, this key CEMEX site provided essential aggregates to all kinds of building projects around Nottinghamshire. Today, the nature reserve is a unique environment, home to a huge range of aquatic and waterside inhabitants.

Our restoration work at the Attenborough Nature Reserve was recognised with the award to CEMEX of the prestigious QPA Cooper Heyman Cup.
