CEMEX is committed to sustainable development and recognises that our success depends not only on the quality of our products, service and financial performance, but also on the way we meet our health, safety, environmental and social responsibilities.
Each CEMEX site operates an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on the principles of ISO 14001:2004. CEMEX operates a diverse range of schemes to help promote sustainability to both our employees, to our customers and the general public. Our focus on H&S, Environmental and Social responsibilities has resulted in recognition and awards for the work we have undertaken.
One such scheme is the CEMEX Carbon Footprint Tracker. This tool allows CEMEX to accurately estimate the carbon output of materials and processes to ensure that they are kept at a minimum. CEMEX uses the results of these findings to advise customers on alternative materials and methods to ensure their individual sustainability needs are met. CEMEX are dedicated to the use of alternative methods of construction as we aim for a more sustainable future. CEMEX are actively supporting the MPA ‘This is Concrete’ scheme as we drive for increasingly sustainable construction. In addition, CEMEX is accredited to ISO 6001 for Responsible Sourcing of our materials.
CEMEX environmental record is one to be proud of, and CEMEX continues to develop ways to further enhance the commitment to sustainable development. Each year the CEMEX Group produces a global sustainability report detailing past and present initiatives, successes, as well as setting future challenges.
Our dedication to sustainability has led to the creation of our ‘sustainability wheel’, which outlines key areas we will target to improve the world around us.
