As is the tradition with each CEMEX Building Award ceremony, the “Lorenzo H. Zambrano” Prize recognized the trajectory and impact of great personalities in the fields of architecture and construction, whose work is significant and memorable for Mexico and internationally.

The 2019 “Lorenzo H. Zambrano” Prize was granted to Architect Benjamin Romano in recognition of his wide trajectory of buildings all over the world. An example of his work is the iconic Torre Reforma in Mexico City, Mexico.

During the event, the “Architect Marcelo Zambrano” Scholarship was granted to Architect Juan Benavides, who graduated from the Universidad de Monterrey and is already undertaking his master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design at TU Delft in the Netherlands.

For 12 years, through the “Architect Marcelo Zambrano” Scholarship, CEMEX has fostered the development of recently graduated young architects, whose academic and professional work demonstrates enormous potential to contribute decisively and innovatively to the progress of Mexico’s culture of construction and design.

The CEMEX Building Award recognizes the talent and vision of architects and engineers who envision sustainable buildings for the benefit of present and future generations. Celebrated since 1991, the CEMEX Building Award has consolidated its position as one of the most renowned competitions in architecture and construction.

CEMEX is a global building materials company that provides high quality products and reliable services. CEMEX has a rich history of improving the wellbeing of those it serves through innovative building solutions, efficiency advancements, and efforts to promote a sustainable future.
