Fire Safety Training

This week a group of colleagues, including all Fire Marshalls, from across all departments based at our new CEMEX House in Binley, Coventry, took part in Fire Extinguisher training with Steve Duffy from Certora Training.
The group really enjoyed the training and learnt about what to do if a fire occurs and which fire extinguisher to use (or not use) for each class of fire.
Trained Fire Wardens can attempt to put out a very small fire (the size of a wastepaper basket) if required but it is important to use the correct fire extinguisher depending on the type of fire.
During the training everyone had the opportunity to put out some small fires using actual fire extinguishers (CO2, foam and water) along with a fire blanket. Everyone agreed that the hands-on experience has given them the confidence to attempt to put out a very small fire should it be necessary.
