Happy Ramadan to all those Celebrating
Our objective is to be respectful to the beliefs of all individuals, including those without a faith. We want to create a wider awareness and understanding of all faiths and religious beliefs in order to become a truly inclusive employer.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Fasting is described as an act of worship that teaches self-control and reinforces one's faith.
Most Muslims fast between dawn and sunset however, children, pregnant women, elderly people and those who are ill or travelling don't have to fast. During Ramadan, it is common to have one meal (known as the suhoor), just before sunrise and another (known as the iftar), directly after sunset.
The end of Ramadan is marked by a big celebration called 'Eid al-Fitr' (the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast).
We’ve created some links to a variety of Ramadan related topics: from decorations and music to activities for the kids and educational resources. We hope there’s something for everyone whether you’re celebrating Ramadan or just want to learn a little more.
