Our Technical Development Programme members learn about asphalt

January 20, 2017
Last week Emily Moon, Fraser Tannock, Luke Topp and Jamie Deere, our Technical Development Programme Team, visited the Technical Centre at Southam to help us to further understand the principles of Asphalt mix designs. They spent three days learning about the processes involved and also took part in carrying out a practical test from start to finish. This enabled them to understand how the optimum binder content is calculated. They also learnt about the stiffness test, densities and the various standards and specifications which govern the procedures required to carry out these tests. Jamie Deere commented: “We all felt the time spent at Southam was very useful and will aid us in the projects we have been given to manage as part of the programme, and would like to thank the Southam Team, especially Thomas Stanford, Technician and David Webb, Lab Manager.”
