- Review and assess environmental monitoring data relating to operational, closed and legacy landfill sites to ensure environmental protection and legal compliance.
- Provide support and management to the environmental monitoring team.
- Ability to understand and explain trends in monitoring data to both internal and external interested parties.
- Provide technical support to operational and development teams regarding environmental monitoring.
- Manage environmental permits relating to closed landfill activities, ensuring timely submission of required reports and permit applications where necessary.
- Ability to review current and historic data to determine appropriateness of applying for permit closure and surrender.
- Contribute to the environmental monitoring contracts management, relating to field operations and laboratory analysis, to ensure timely collection of data in line with monitoring plans and permits.
- Provide support to the management of the environmental monitoring database.
- Support with the installation and maintenance of monitoring boreholes as required by permits and new site development.
Skills Required:
- Groundwater, leachate and gas monitoring data experience, preferably in a landfill environment.
- Waste permitting, reporting and regulator liaison in a landfill environment.
- Environmental chemistry.
- Hydrogeology experience preferable.
- Management experience and experience of dealing with consultants and regulators.
- Knowledge and experience of the UK waste permitting regime.
- Excellent time management skills in time critical situations.
- Ability to maintain business needs and regulatory compliance in a challenging regulatory environment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Environmental Monitoring database usage – preferably EQuIS (Earthsoft)
- MS Office applications
