Frequently Asked Questions About Aggregates
What is Rock Armour?
Rock Armour is an effective solution to protect coastlines, river banks and structures from erosion by the sea, rivers, streams, etc. The material can be placed in an interlocking structure in order to control erosion and dissipate wave and water energy on coastlines, rivers and lakes. It can also used to provide effective scour protection to river beds, sea beds and underwater structures. A range of weights and sizes are available depending on the project requirements.
What is SuDSFlow?
SuDS stands for Sustainable Drainage System and our Sudsflow range is designed to be used as part of a permeable paving system. SudsFlow is produced from a carefully graded crushed angular material to ensure the necessary interlock to provide stability in the construction layers, whilst still providing the adequate voids to allow the for free movement and storage of water. The material is compliant with BS 7533-13 and can be used for a variety of purposes, including pavements, car parks, driveways, sport areas and more.
What is Reduced Fines Sub-Base?
Our Reduced Fines Sub-Base is an optimum blend of coarse and fine aggregates designed to be used as part of a permeable paving system. The balance of coarse and fine aggregate ensure a well compacted and stable construction layer is achieved, whilst still allowing for the free movement of water from the surface. The product can be used for a variety of purposes including pavements, car parks, driveways and more.
What is Gabion Stone and Gabion Baskets?
Gabion Stone is the aggregate used in the construction of gabion baskets, which are designed for use in environmental, infrastructure and landscaping applications. They can be used for stabilisation, retention and protection as well as decorative applications.
What is Thermal Sand?
Thermosand is a selected sand backfill sourced and tested to meet ENATS 97-1 regulations making it an ideal backfill material for underground electrical cable installations. The consistent grading, density, shape and relatively low thermal resistivity make this sand a suitable material for underground cabling work.
What is Sports Sand?
Sports Sands are washed and graded sands that can be used for top dressing, amelioration and sports pitch construction. Applications include, football, rugby & hockey pitches as well as golf courses and more. Both artificial and natural sports surfaces can benefit from the application of Sports Sands.
What is Sports Sub-Base?
Our Sports Sub-Base is an optimum blend of coarse and fine aggregates and is designed to be used as part of a permeable sports system. The balance of coarse and fine aggregate helps ensure that a well compacted and stable construction layer is achieved, whilst still allowing for the free movement of water from the surface of the pitch/playing surface. The product can be used for a variety of purposes including football, rugby & hockey pitches, tennis courts and more.
What is Sports Gravel?
Sports gravel is a sub-layer that can be applied to all sorts of sport applications to help with drainage and prevent flooding. This easy to install gravel is commonly used for artificial pitches (i.e. astroturf) but can also be used for golf putting greens, rugby and football pitches where required.
What is Fertiliser Stone?
Fertiliser stone is a naturally sourced limestone bulking agent that can be mixed with any nitrogen-based fertiliser to help improve the way it spreads when being applied to a field of crops. This can significantly improve the quality (and quantity) of the crop yield as it ensures fertiliser spreading is more even when applied.
What is Cattle Bedding?
Cattle bedding is a natural sand product that provides a comfortable surface in barns, stables and outhouses to help keep your livestock happy and healthy. Compared to other types of bedding media it can help reduce the spread of pathogens and provides good traction to reduce the risk of slips and falls.
What is Neutra-Agg?
Neutra-Agg is a limestone based agricultural liming agent designed to help correct soil pH and increase calcium levels to improve conditions for effective nutrient uptake in crops and pastures. This range is compliant with the 1991 Fertiliser Regulations and is independently tested as part of the Agricultural Lime Associations ‘Aglime Quality Standard’.
What is Cobblestone?
Cobblestone is a naturally-sourced, cobble-sized stone that can be used for various types of construction - both domestic and commercial. They can be used for paving streets, building houses & commercial offices, roads but are also commonly found in domestic landscapes - such as use in water features, garden paths and can be used as a decorative gabion.
What are Decorative Aggregates?
Decorative Aggregates are a range of gravels, sands and pebbles that can be used in various domestic and commercial landscaping projects to help bring gardens, parks and public places to life. They can be used to create garden paths, enhance water features and in general garden and park design.
What is Path Gravel?
Path Gravel is a traditional, self-binding aggregate that can be used for driveways, car parks, public footpaths and various other projects, both domestic and commercial. When compared to loose aggregates our self-binding path gravel is harder wearing and the material is favoured for use on woodland paths, heritage sites and stately homes.
