Cemex Poland Named as Construction Company of the Year

This effort is made to support Cemex’s dedicated climate action strategy; Future in Action; which strives towards the manufacturer’s global ambition of operating as a net zero business by 2050.
Rafał Gajewski, Director of the Commercial Division, Member of the Management Board at Cemex Poland said: "We are very proud to have received this award, which confirms that our actions for a better, more sustainable future are noticed and appreciated." 
“It also serves as an additional motivation to further improve the solutions we offer and better help our customers to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their construction projects. Additionally, Michał Grys, Member of the Company's Management Board at Cemex Poland and Director of the Materials Division, was named Industry Personality.
Michał Grys was recognised by the jury for his involvement in the process of improving the quality of products and services offered by Cemex Poland and his care in ensuring the highest operating standards in the areas of production and distribution. Michał is also active in organisations for building material manufacturers. Since 2020, he has served as president of the Association of Ready-Mixed Concrete Producers in Poland (SPBT).
Michal commented: “I very much appreciate awards from experts, so this title is particularly meaningful to me. I would like to dedicate this award to my colleagues at Cemex Poland, in particular the employees of the Materials Division and my colleagues at the Association of Ready-Mixed Concrete Producers, who have contributed significantly to me obtaining this valuable title.”
Builder Awards, organized by national publication Builder magazine, are awarded to outstanding companies and individuals operating in the Polish construction market. Builder magazine's prestigious awards were presented for the twentieth time.
The awards are decided by a chapter chaired by Professor Leonard Runkiewicz from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology, a member of the Scientific Council of the Building Research Institute.

Cemex announced its Climate Action strategy; ‘Future in Action – Committed to Net Zero CO2’ in February 2020, along with updated targets in November 2022 and as part of this, by 2030 it plans:
•    To be below 430kg of CO2 per ton of cementitious material, equivalent to a 47% reduction*.
•    To reduce the carbon content per cubic meter of concrete to 150kg, equivalent to a 41% reduction.
•    To reach 65% in clean electricity consumption by 2030.
•    To reduce Scope 3 transport emissions by 30% by 2030.
•    For Vertua lower-carbon to account for majority (50%+) of cement and concrete sales by 2025.
•    To manage up to 40M tons of waste per year by 2030.
