A Bite of the Awards Apple
CEMEX’s low carbon concrete mix used on the project helped to reduce the carbon footprint by up to 70 percent compared to traditional concrete.
The overall project is to create a £1.2bn sustainable waste management hub and Energy Recovery Facility. You can read more about this here.
The award was presented at the House of Parliament, and a donation was made on the winners’ behalf to the Green Earth Appeal, whose tree-planting in emerging nations helps the environment and wildlife while creating employment opportunities in the local community.
Richard Kershaw, Technical Manager, commented: “I was very proud to receive this award on behalf of CEMEX. It is great to see the sustainable contributions we are making to our customer’s projects being recognised, as more and more people appreciate the need and opportunity for the construction industry to play its part in reducing carbon emissions.”
