A successful kiln shutdown for Rugby
March 17, 2017
Our kiln at Rugby cement plant has been shutdown for 28 days to do key maintenance work and ensure its smooth running going forward. This mammoth task involved significant safety controls to ensure that the kiln shutdown was completed safely on time and within budget. During the 28 days over 800 contractors were inducted and there were 2862 training man-hours, resulting in the safest shutdown on record with only six injuries (still six too many). And to give a further idea of the scale of this operation over 250 scaffolds were erected using 627 tonnes of scaffold and there were more than 6500 journeys in the Alimak lift.
