Last week saw the first scheme to be supplied with the new CEMEX Thin Surfacing asphalt material, specified by Transport Scotland, out of our Coating Plant at Cowieslinn Quarry.

Last week saw the first scheme to be supplied with the new CEMEX Thin Surfacing asphalt material, specified by Transport Scotland, out of our Coating Plant at Cowieslinn Quarry.

The Technical Team headed by Derek Sim and the Team at Southam Lab have worked tirelessly to get the site and business through the various levels of approvals and trials over the last 24 months.

John Macsween Smith, Asphalt Ops Northern, commented:

“Wednesday saw the first order following approval and it is pleasing that it all went well from the transport planning, production and technical sides.

"The site successfully supplied a large volume over 3 days to a site on the A702 Hazelburn to Scottish Borders Council."
