Christmas is the annual commemoration by Christians of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is preceded by the season of advent, which sees the preparation for the celebration of Christmas on the 25th December. Activities during this period may include the decorating of Christmas trees, Christmas lights and opening of advent calendars. Celebrations on Christmas day include the exchanging of gifts and in many countries a turkey Christmas dinner with traditional Christmas puddings. The day is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians, as well as culturally by many non-Christians.
